Anthony Green, R.A.

Selected Paintings, 1968-1998

"I'm very self-consciously zeroing into that area which is the 'everyman way of looking at the world'.I'm very aware how the man in the street gets through his visual day, He uses his memory of things seen, of past experience to get through. ...He doesn't trip over chairs, he remembers where he left his tobacco pouch, he knows how to open the door to the microwave. I don't want to be known as an anti-modernist, it's simply that instinct tells me that there ia a lot of ploughing to be done in areas that have been ill-considered."
