"I work on one painting for many months and in this time my painting emerges in an investigatory way. One of my most pressing concerns is the way I can articulate on a flat surface our experience of the three dimensional space. To be confronted with the presence of another person and then put marks down on the flat surface which relate to that particular time, is how my pictures evolve. My pictures become a record of the cumulation of ideas and sensations over a period of time."
